Quito (the 1 of 3 times)
I´m in Quito. It´s actually a pretty dirty city but with some small little enclaves of nice areas. Since my plans have changed since originally imagining my plans I now am in Quito for the first of three times instead of the only time. I also will be here when I first get back from the galapagos and then again when I get back from the jungle. So this time in Quito I have decided to basically spend it relaxing.
Thanks to marriot points I am staying in the best hotel in Quito (I didn´t know that when I booked it). It is suuuuper nice. It´s the first time I haev been able to flush toliet paper down the toliet in a month and a half. So it is also kinda a weird. I literally think I had a small bit of culture shock when my host brother dropped me off at this huge hotel and everyone was speaking english and everything was clean and modern. I invited 3 of my friends to come crash at my hotel last night which was nice to have the company. We met up with 3 other volunteers who were spending the weekend in Quito and had Thai food (Delicious and different then the Ecuadorian food I´ve been eating). We then just went back to the hotel (since its the dry weekend because of the election today no bars were open and no places were allowed to serve alchol). Trisha had bought a bottle of wine and brought it with her so we each had a glass of wine, watched a movie that was on one of the 50 channels on this huge TV in my room and then passed out on the big king bed. It was actualyl really fun and relaxing.
This morning we went out to eat breakfast. The omlets and pancakes were the size of my face, literally. Then they all left and I spent the early afternoon at the super sweet big pool. Now I´m here at an internet cafe and then gonna grab a bit to eat.
Tomorrow I leave for the Galapagos at 9:45am (10:45 eastern time). Not sure about internet or if I will have a chance to be in communication. If I do have the chance I will definately post something quickly. Otherwise talk to you all a week from Tuesday!
