Host Mama

This post is solely about my host mom Gladys and how in a span of one month I truely feel as though I am part of the family. Yesterday she actually teared up at breakfast when talking to Carly and me about how she would not be able to visit us and that she doesn´t want us to forget her. It was really sad but just proof of how much she has become a part of my life and vice versa. Last night Carly and I cooked dinner for our family (mom, little cousin, aunt, grandma, and brother). We made tuna noodle cassorole - They loved it. We also bought a box of wine (the common form wine comes in here) and a delicious cake (which fed like 8 and was only 2 bucks, rosies bakery would have sold it for like 21). We wouldnt let Gladys into the kitchen to help cook or clean which drove her nuts becuase she is so used to doing everything and being the house care taker.

I honestly don´t think its possible to sum up how much Gladys and her warmth and hospitality mean to me. I plan on sending her a huge package of things she wouldn´t buy herself or can´t get here in Ecuador once I get back to the States - so far all I know it will include is chocolate (which she loves but is really expensive here) and probably some Boston paraphenelia, other suggestions are welcome.
