Get Out the Vote

Ok so I am going to finally write about this insane election that is taking place on Sunday (whilst I am in the capital of the country - innnnteresting). So Everything is being voted on from president to govenors of every territory and province. Pretty much any elected position will be elected on Sunday. Since I have been here there has been insane amounts of propoganda. I am talking not just large banners and flyers, but cars decked out in stickers driving around blaring candidates speaches or campaign songs, to almost daily parades for some canidate or another, to setting up white sheets and showing propoganda films on every street cornor. Voto Todo 32 (or whatever number your chosen candidate has been assigned). I was told by my spanish teacher that there are over 150 people running. I´ve also heard that most people believe that the current president (Rafael Correa) will probably be re-elected.
In Ecuador if you are over 18 you must vote. It´s against the law not too. If you are between the ages of 16-18 you have the option to vote if you want to. Also starting this Thursday through Sunday the entire COUNTRY goes dry. It is illegal to sell or purchase alcohol of any kind. This regulation is slightly cramping my last weekend in the Continental Ecuador style. Oh well I guess we´ll go out for desserts instead.
I am starting to get pretty sad about leaving, but I hope you are all doing well. And that the Bostonians are enjoying Marathon Monday!
